I have recently met Tom Greaves, owner of TDG Tree Services which he formed two years ago with his partner Sophie. This duo offers an incredibly friendly and personable service to their clients and it was great to hear from Tom about how their business came to be.
With ten years' experience earned through his hard work, Tom worked his way up from a Woodland Management and Horticulture course at the Isle of Wight College. He then moved onto an apprenticeship with the grounds team at Robin Hill where he saw the tree surgeons working their magic. Tom decided that this was the career for him, so started saving for the relevant courses and training needed to become a fully qualified Tree Surgeon himself. He went on to complete his arborist training in 2016 with Proclimber, a well-known and prestigious training provider in the arborist industry.
After a few years of sub-contracting for other businesses on the Island, gaining valuable experience, Tom set up TDG Tree Services with the help of his partner Sophie who manages not just Tom's time, but the admin and marketing side of the business too.
TDG now have a team of professional ground staff who help on an ADHOC basis supporting Tom in his role as lead-climber. The ground crew are highly skilled, manning the ropes and equipment on-site, making sure the whole job is completed safely and to a high standard.
TDG offer the personal touch, ensuring consistency from quote to job completion. Customer satisfaction is clearly a priority.
